Our Story

family

In 1986 our church was founded by Joe and Carmen Trevino in South Houston Texas. We soon out grew the small building and moved into Pasadena. After growing a healthy church and moving to a new location, God started to do something we never expected. What happen next completely turned our church upside down (or right side up depending how you look at it). God put a vision in our hearts that would change our church from then on. No more business as usual. The sermons were great, the music was good, and all of the “churchy” stuff was in place but God wanted to do more.

GOD WANTS US TO BE A CHURCH THAT IS IMPACTING THE COMMUNITY. It’s not about being a church of size, but about being a church of significance. If our church was to close down one day and the only people impacted are the ones who attend our services then we are not fulfilling God’s true purpose as a church. Our city should be better because we exist. God began to show us that poor, addicted and homeless people are not the government’s responsibility they are our responsibility. Don’t just feed them but bring them into your sanctuary so they can experience true love and forgiveness. We never expected God to take us on such a wild ride.

In 1994 we opened up a Christian rehab center for men and women. We started rescuing homeless people and providing addicts with an opportunity to change their life absolutely free of charge. We became a licensed food pantry and started giving needy families food and clothing. We began coordinating projects with the city, adopted over 55 acres in our city, cleaning streets and serving on disaster relief teams. We opened up missions in Mexico, adopted orphans in India and we’re working to build parks for children in Africa.

Today if you visit a church service at Victory Family you will be around an incredibly diverse group of people. Our sanctuary is filled every service with men and women who have been rescued from homelessness and addiction. Their passionate voices fill the air as they sing praises to God. It is so inspiring that we are still moved to tears during worship.

You will also be surrounded with everyday people like you who want to be apart of this vision to change our community and the world.

Steve and Julie Trevino serve as pastors along with Joe and Carmen. We want to grow a church in Pasadena that is real, a church that you can be proud to invite your friends and family to. Will you grow with us? Plans are currently underway to completely remodel our sanctuary and renovate our parking lot to accommodate growth. Please come and see what God is up to at Victory Family Church.
